OFRA and its partners are proud to co-sponsor a Field Day at Walnut Creek Farms, east of Waynoka, OK on June 16, 2012. We are excited to be able to tour a farm managed by a long-time practitioner and Certified Educator of Holistic Management®, Kim Barker and son-in-law Andy Bowen.
Walnut Creek Farms features a variety of production and marketing systems based on the principles and practices of Holistic Management® in their strategies for improving the land, the quality of their products, and in meeting the needs of their customers in their production of a variety of grassfed meats and eggs using native pasture and no GMO grains in their Sustainable Systems in Action model. These include:
Pastured Pigs
(including the Heritage Mangalitsa Heritage breed)
Pastured Poultry
Free Range Hens
Grass Fed Beef
Grass Fed Lamb
Topics for Discussion may include: Holistic Management® in Action; Managing for Drought; Meeting the Needs of Customers and the Land simultaneously; and the SSAWG Conference
A lunch of Walnut Creek Farms Burgers and Hot Dogs will be served.
An added attraction is a another group of Young Oklahoma Farmers and Ranchers who invite those interested to assist in building a watershed collection system following the OFRA program.
